MUNCIE- Claude Earl Carter, 91, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at Albany Health and Rehabilitation.

He was born in Muncie on November 12, 1925, the son of Claude Eugene and Mamie Pauline (McClure) Carter.

Claude graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1944 and attended Ball State University. After college he joined the United States Navy, where he served his country during World War II. Claude was a member of the Muncie Eagles, Republican Men’s Club, and a lifelong member of Avondale United Methodist Church. He worked for Indiana Michigan Power Company for forty-five years. After retirement he worked for ten years as a crossing guard at Burris Laboratory School. Claude enjoyed traveling and playing euchre.

Survivors include his sister, Murriel O. Wessol of Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Willie Carter, Walter Carter, and Roy Carter.

Per Claude’s wishes cremation will take place and a private interment will be held at Elm Ridge Cemetery.
