MUNCIE- Donald “Red” Marvin, 92, passed away on Monday evening, September 3, 2018 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born on April 12, 1926 in Muncie, the son of Roy D. and Mary E. (Demler) Marvin. Donald graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1943, where he was a state champion wrestler. After graduating from high school he worked at Post Office prior to joining the United States Navy where he proudly served his country from 1944 to 1971 until his retirement.
Red was a member the Delaware County Hall of Fame, American Legion Post #19, Elks, Eagles Aerie #231, and the VFW and AmVets in Lewiston, ME, He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his son, Greg Marvin (wife, Susan), Muncie; three daughters, Cindy Henry (husband, Rodel), Pensacola, FL, Wendy Conklin, Muncie, and Marjorie Marvin (companion, Bob Henderson), Portland, ME; a brother, Dickie Marvin, Muncie; three sisters, Beverly Gresh, Muncie, Nancy Conn, Indianapolis, and Patricia Winters (husband, Jim), Dayton, OH; grandchildren, Shawn Marvin, Yorktown, Ryan Marvin, Muncie, Lia Brown (Bryan), Ashley Lardino (Anthony), Ian Boucher (Valentyna), Evan and Alex Broucher, all of Florida, and Andrew and Brittany Pesce, Portland, ME; great-grandchildren, Tobby and Sierra Marvin, Yorktown, Logan and Brad Brown, Payton and Parker Lardino, all of Florida, and Eliah Pesce, Portland, ME; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, William “Whitey” Marvin, Robert D. “Bobby” Marvin, and Roy D. “Speedy” Marvin, Jr.; and a sister Barbara McDaniel.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 7, 2018 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery with Military Rites by the US Navy and Veterans of Delaware County.
Family and friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 7, 2018.
