Ernest (Gene) Warner, 87, of Yorktown, IN peacefully walked from his earthly home into the arms of our Heavenly Father on Sunday evening.

 

He was born September 18, 1930, in Muncie, the son of Ernest and Ethel Warner. He is survived by his wife, Patti (Black) Warner of 66 years, four children; Tom (Debbie) Warner, Rio IL, Debbie (Doug) Gregg Muncie IN, Julie (Glen) Holbert, Newport KY, Kathy (Tim) Courtney, Fishers IN.  He will also be greatly missed by his eight grandchildren, Misty Warner Ostrem, Melanie Gregg Graham, Tommy Warner, Joshua Gregg, MaNell Gregg Hembree, Laura Holbert Platt, Katie Courtney Walker and Timothy Courtney, 13 great-grandchildren, and sister, Bonnie Nixon, Daleville IN.   We are comforted knowing he is now reunited in heaven with his parents, sister Betty Kern, and granddaughter Meredith (Holbert) Rankin.

 

Gene was employed by Borg Warner Corp. for 42 years. He also farmed for over 40 years and sold for Gardens of Memory. He graduated from Center High School in 1950. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, golf, bridge, and most importantly, spending time with his family. He was an active member of First Baptist Church for 61 years serving as deacon, financial secretary as well as other leadership roles. He served as a board member of Union School Corporation for 12 years. He was also a member of Gideon International and volunteered at Library of Love, Life and Laughter.

 

A celebration of Gene’s life will be held at First Baptist Church, Muncie, IN at 4:00 pm EST Thursday, November 16th. Family will greet their friends immediately following. Reverend Wade Allen will officiate.
