MUNCIE- Jon David Funkhouser “Paw”, 66, gained his angel wings on Monday January 29, 2018 surrounded by friends and family in his home. Jon was a Muncie native, born in 1951 to Russell & Mildred Funkhouser.

He is survived by the love of his life of 37 years, Debbie Funkhouser. He was predeceased by his mother, Mildred Funkhouser of Muncie; father, Russell Funkhouser of Muncie; and his brothers, Glenn Ed Funkhouser and Bob Funkhouser.

He graduated from Burris High School in 1969, and spent some of his younger years working at the Federal Bureau of Investigations before returning to Muncie where he built a career at G&G Oil. He spent the last 23 years of his career working with a great team at Knapp Supply before retiring this past December.

He is lovingly remembered by his sons, Eric and Adam Funkhouser of Muncie, Indiana; his grandsons, Cire and Jayce Funkhouser; his brother Thomas Funkhouser (wife Kay) of Beverly Hills, Florida; mother-in-law, Barbara Kemp of Muncie; brother in-law, Rex Wilson (wife Grace) of Muncie; sister in-law, Pamela Parker (husband Mike) of Marion; sister in-law, Wanda Wilson of Ft. Wayne; and sister in-law, Bobbi Lephart (husband Gregg) of Harrison, Ohio; nephew, Steve Funkhouser (wife Cathy), and nieces Sherri and Sue (husband Kent) on one side; nephews, Brad (wife Cherish), Ali (wife Tamara), Jason, Chase and nieces Kimberly (husband Chad), Nadia (husband Kyle), and Kollin on the spousal side of the family. Also, many great-nieces and great-nephews who will miss him dearly.

Jon enjoyed many years with friends at Circle “B” Campgrounds where he spent days relaxing with Debbie and fishing on Hogback Lake. He took pleasure in just being outdoors, visiting various trade shows, and going to the shooting range with friends.

Jon had a quiet dignity, respecting himself the way he respected others. As he faced his final days, he occasionally lost his good humor. Though his illness made him feel uncomfortable, standing before him you wouldn’t have ever known how bad he was feeling. The days before he left us he remained positive and hopeful, not for himself but for those around him. He was strong in body, in spirit, and in commitment and will be deeply missed by all.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Center Chapel United Methodist Church, 900 W. Royerton, Muncie with Pastor Bill Dunsee officiating. Cremation will take place.
