MUNCIE- Junuetta “June” Johns, 90 passed away Monday evening, May 8, 2017 at Morrison Woods Health Campus.

She was born May 23, 1926 in Blackford County the daughter of Henry and Hazel (Havens) Towns.  June graduated from Montpelier High School in 1944 and the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse, in 1947.

June began her career as a nurse with Caylor-Nickle Hospital in Bluffton, worked at the Tipton Clinic, the Denver Clinic, Ball Memorial Hospital, and ended her career with Blackford County Hospital, retiring in 1988.

Mrs. Johns was a member of Hazelwood Christian Church, Ch-Ki-Lo Sunday School, Civitan, and Ball State University Women for over sixty years. She enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, and traveling.

She is survived by three children, Melody Greenberg (husband, Joseph), Ft. Collins, CO, Mark Johns (wife, Janet), Muncie, and Daniel Johns (fiancée, Amy Mattox), Huntington; five grandchildren, Jeremy Johns (wife, Lisette), Jason Johns, Erin Greenberg, Matt Johns, and Hannah Johns; two great grandsons, Xander and Winston; a brother, Lyle D. Towns, Hartford City; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Johns was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-one years, Dr. John Mark Johns; three brothers, Earl, Charles, and Neil Towns; a sister, Lavetha Winger.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Hazelwood Christian Church with Rev. Jason Jones officiating.  Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Montpelier.

Family and friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Thursday or one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.
