Muncie – Margaret Ellen (Smith) Teal, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior, March 7, 2018, at Parker Health and Rehabilitation.

She was born in Cowan on August 16, 1928 the daughter of James Clifton and Tilda Marie (Brown) Smith, graduated from Cowan High School.

Margaret married the love of life, Maurice James Teal on September 28, 1946. They welcomed four children, Deborah Marie, Peggy Jo, Michael Maurice, and Mitchell Dewayne.

She was an active member of Full Gospel Temple until her illness and was always willing to share her testimonies and faith. She couldn’t wait for the day that she would be reunited with her husband and daughters.

Mrs. Teal worked for several area businesses as a seamstress and Guardian Flowers. She and her husband built five homes around the Muncie and Cowan area. If she didn’t like the wall where it was placed, she would move it. If she didn’t like the furniture, she would make her own.

Surviving are two sons, Michael Maurice Teal (wife, Kellie) and Mitchell Dewayne Teal (wife, Shandra); five grandchildren, Timothy, Lindsey, Michael Jr., Lars, and Moira Teal; five great-grandchildren, Michael Durden, Aubree and Audrina Zerlak, and Aydenn and Adalynn Teal; her “third” son, Allen Burkhardt (wife, Lorie); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Virgil Dunn; her husband; two daughters; her sister, Jane Gibson; and several other family members.

She loved the Lord so much that, in her final days, he blessed her with a peaceful and painless passing. Which is a true testament to how good God really is.

Per Margaret’s request, graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with pastor Denny Helton officiating.

The family would like to express their gratitude towards Parker Health and Rehabilitation for their excellent care over the past few years.

The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to the family at meeksmortuary.com.
