Marie Sallee Hayden, 100, formerly of Muncie, passed away on Tuesday morning, July 31, 2018 at University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, KY.

She was born on December 1, 1917 in Normal, Illinois, the daughter of Omer and Lena (Lyons) Sallee. Marie moved to Muncie at an early age and spent most of her life in this area.

Marie worked for Industrial Trust and Savings Bank, retiring after 12 years of Service. She attended Halteman Village Baptist Church and was a former member of Wilmore United Methodist Church. Marie was very active in numerous organizations including:  Order of the Eastern Star; White Shine of Jerusalem; dual member of Portland Shrine and honorary member of New Castle White Shrine where she served as Worthy Priestess five times, attending Supreme Session throughout the United States and Canada for 22 years; charter member and Royal Matron of Muncietown Amaranth; member of the White Shrine State Association; charter member and on the board of directors of V.H.W.W. Club for 35 years, where she served as treasurer for 33 years, president for 2 years and tour guide for 7 years; member of Rebekah Lodge and the No Name Euchre Club.

Marie traveled all 50 states and all provinces of Canada except Prince Edward Island. She especially enjoyed Nova Scotia, Quebec and the Yukon Territory. She loved to travel and sight-see. She was an avid reader and quilted up to her 100 years of age, she took so much pride in her work.

Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Karla L. Hayden of Harrodsburg, KY; one granddaughter, Tammy Kramer of Nicholasville, KY; three grandsons, Scott Hayden of Las Vegas, NV, Tim Hayden (wife, Hollie) of Virginia and Alex Hayden of North Carolina; two great-grandchildren, Bella Aradyn and Elsa Rose Hayden; several nieces and nephews; several cousins; and dear friends, Jerry and Beverly Davidson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Victor Ray Hayden of February 4, 1997; two sons, Ed Hayden and Gene Hayden; two sisters, Flora Kern and Ruth Hayden; and two brothers, Floyd Sallee and Amos Sallee.

Services and entombment at Elm Ridge Mausoleum will be private.
