MUNCIE- Marthadel (Waite) Gray, 91, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 20, 1926 in Blackford County, the daughter of Timothy and Marrietta (Adkins) Gray.

Marthadel grew up in Milgrove and graduated from Montpelier High School. She graduated from Ball State University where she received her Nursing degree. She married Robert C. Gray on New Year’s Eve in 1947.

She was a homemaker until Robert retired from the Muncie Police Department, when they began driving a semi as a team together across the United States. Marthadel was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed traveling and going to the beach.

Survivors include her five children, Joan Thresher (Gary) of Muncie, Julie Gray of Muncie, Jill Gray of Sheridan, Jack Gray (Jahma) of Albany, and Jerry Gray (Felicia) of Yorktown; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; niece, Janet Sharpe (Ted); and nephew, John Pierce (Lisa).

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of forty-eight years, brother, Blaine Waite, two sisters, Juanita Replogle and Rose Pierce, and lifelong friend, Martha Taylor.

Private family services were held.
