YORKTOWN – Michael Aaron Clawson, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, May 4th, 2017.

He was born on January 3, 1942 in Chesterfield, IN the son of Otho Wayne and Bessie M. (Hartley) Clawson and graduated from Cowan High School in 1960.

Mr. Clawson worked for Creviston Steel for a time prior to starting a distinguished 36-year career with Westinghouse Corporation.  His dedication and work ethic soon propelled him from his initial position of welder to numerous promotions which allowed him to serve in various management/leadership positions around the country.  In addition to the Muncie plant, he managed plants in Jefferson City, MO, Charlestown, SC, York, PA, Chester, PA, Poughkeepsie, NY and Panama City, FL.   Upon completion of 36 years in the corporate world he settled back home in Delaware County to be near family.  Retirement was never in his plan and soon Clawson obtained his real estate brokers license and served successfully as an agent in the local area.  Along with his wife Debra, they owned and operated The Yorktown Café.  The Café provided him an avenue to meet local folks, reacquaint with old friends and most of all share stories and experiences with all who cared to listen.  Michael loved his community and was proud to be from Delaware County.  He created and managed a property rental business that continues in the area.

Michael loved athletics and was involved in industrial league basketball and softball for many years in the 1960’s and early 70’s.  He loved Reds baseball and IU basketball.

The hallmark of Michael Aaron Clawson’s life was family.  He was a loving husband that adored his wife Debra.  As a father he was a fierce protector, comforter and teacher, a man of principle and strength.  His love and wisdom will be forever missed by a grieving family honored to have shared his life.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 36 years, Debra A. (Everard) Clawson; one son, John W. Clawson (wife Stephanie); three daughters, Kimberly M. Keller (husband Jeff), Lori S. Slagle and Nicole M. Clawson; two sisters, Louise Clawson and Connie Roberson; fifteen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Otho B. Clawson; and two sisters, Esta M. Gomm and Carolyn J. Rudolph.
