Muncie – Michael Alan Miller, 72, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, January 30, 2018, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and friends after an extended illness.

He was born in Muncie on March 23, 1945, the son of Albert O. and Mabel (Booher) Miller and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1963, and was a lifelong resident of Delaware County.

Mike was employed for thirty-five years at Delco Battery and also worked several years for Muncie Aviation.

He had a special passion for travel and enjoyed annual cruises to the Caribbean with his wife as well as annual beach trips to Myrtle Beach, SC. Mike was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed Nascar and coaching Little League baseball.

Surviving are her two sons, Tony Miller (wife, Mary), Yorktown and Todd Miller, Muncie; his sister, Marilyn Jenkins, Albany; two grandchildren, Brett Miller (wife, Olivia), Connersville and Erin Miller, Muncie; his sister-in-law, Kathy Lucas, Muncie; his brother-in-law, Ed Shepp (wife, Sydney), Eaton; a host of close friends that were his source of comfort following the loss of his wife last year; his four cats at home; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-three years, Janellyn in July of 2017; his father; and his mother, Mabel Robertson.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Pastor Jeff Veatch officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery.

Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday or one hour prior to services on Saturday.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and other staff members at IU Health and AMG Specialty Hospital in Muncie for their amazing care and compassion during his illness.
