Yorktown – Monty L. Hensley, 68, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at his residence after a brief illness.

​          He was born in Anderson on August 31, 1949, the son of Lowell and Betty (Dodd) Hensley and graduated from Wes-Del High School. Monty served his country in The United States Army National Guard.

​          He owned Monty’s Bar in Chesterfield until 1987 and then worked for Stoops Automotive Group as a salesman for the last twenty-nine years.

​          Monty had a gregarious personality and was an avid sports fan, especially of I.U. basketball.

​          Survivors include his wife, Carol Hensley (Gill); daughter, Amy Durbin (Hammersley) (husband, Kevin); grandchildren, Hannah and Emily Durbin; also surviving are a niece and three nephews and several cousins.

​          He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lana Nichole “Nikki” Lopez (survived by her husband, Robert), his parents and his sister, Sheri Ricker.

​          A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2017 at the Knights of Columbus, Muncie from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m.

The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
