MUNCIE – Richard A. Ronnau, 73, passed away on Tuesday morning, February 6, 2018 at Auburn Village in Auburn, IN.

He was born on July 20, 1944 in Omaha, Nebraska the son of Arnold Richard and Jane (Noble) Ronnau. He graduated from Omaha Central High School in 1962 and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nebraska in 1967. On June 11, 1966 in Orleans, Nebraska, he married Arlene Kay Witte.

Richard worked as a design engineer for Westinghouse/ABB for 31 years, was a consultant for large power transformer company and taught classes at Ivy Tech for several years. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary and St. Lawrence Catholic Churches, served as PTO president, and Saturday morning bowling coach for children and young adults Youth League.

He was inducted into the Muncie Bowling Hall of Fame, loved to spend time with his family and watch his children and grandchildren grow and had fond memories of spending Christmas in Nebraska with extended family. Richard enjoyed bowling, farming, landscaping, decorating for Christmas, country and 50’s-60’s music and his cat, Kit Kat. He also enjoyed reading to increase his knowledge.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Arlene Kay Ronnau of Muncie; three children, Jeff Ronnau of Indianapolis, Pam Ronnau of Cincinnati, OH and Scott Ronnau (wife, Barbara) of Noblesville; two grandchildren, Gwenivere Ronnau and Aaryton Ronnau, both of Noblesville;

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 820 E. Charles Street, with Father David Hellmann presiding. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Cemetery.

Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2018 or on Monday from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.
