Selma – Robert D. Sellers journeyed to his heavenly home on May 5, 2018, leaving while surrounded by his family.

He was born February 15, 1931 in Chicago IL., to Robert C. Sellers and Lucretia (Howell) Sellers.  In the early forties, his family, including his parents and his two sisters, Joyce Sellers Wyatt [husband Eldon, “Slim”], and Barbara Sellers Bundy [husband Henry “Buster”] moved to Selma.  They all preceded him in their journey home.

After graduating from Selma High School in 1950, he married R. Virginia (Bruner) Sellers in 1950, settling in Selma.  They raised their family of three, including Diane K. Sellers (Williams) Blankenship, who passed January 26, 2013 and her husband, Glenn, Jean Ann Sellers-Cool [husband Greg] Mooreland, and son, William R. Sellers [wife Regina], Parker City.

He was a dedicated provider for his family.  He proudly served in the U.S Navy [Reserves] during the Korean Conflict.  For many years he worked with Prudential Insurance.  In the late sixties he began his own gas station/automotive repair business, Sellers’ Standard.  After that venture, he worked for Ball State’s campus police, serving 28 years.  Also, he and Virginia served as lay pastor and choir director at the Windsor United Methodist church for over twenty years. He had also been a longtime member of Muncie Masonic Lodge #433.

Still on their earthly journey are 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, 8 nieces and 3 nephews.

The family is very thankful for the professional staff at Parker Health Care and Clarity Care.

Pastor Dennis Rush will lead us in the celebration of life, giving glory and thanks to our Savior, Jesus Christ at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 in Selma Christ United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie.
