Rodney Johnson, 81, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

He was born August 24, 1936, in Muncie, the son of Wilbur and Marjorie (Roberts) Johnson.  Rodney graduated from Cowan High School in 1954.

Rodney Johnson, 81, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

He was born August 24, 1936, in Muncie, the son of Wilbur and Marjorie (Roberts) Johnson.  Rodney graduated from Cowan High School in 1954.

Mr. Johnson worked for Farm Bureau Co-op for many years before driving for Marathon Oil totaling twenty-nine years.  He also drove a school bus for Cowan schools during this same time.  Following his retirement from Marathon Oil, Rodney worked as a driver for Ball State University’s Athletic Department.

Rodney was a member of Harris Chapel Church of the Nazarene, and the Central Indiana Old Car Club.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Eva Johnson; three children, Dyke Johnson (wife, Kathy), Jerry Johnson (wife, Debbie), and Tammy Atkinson (husband, Stan); six grandchildren, Emilie Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Alex Johnson, Kaleigh Atkinson, Taylor Atkinson, and Nolan Atkinson; a sister, Beverly Ocker; and two brothers, Larry Johnson and Harvey Johnson.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Harris Chapel Church of the Nazarene, 10450 S. Co. Rd. 544 East, Selma with Pastor Jim Ballenger officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harris Chapel Church of the Nazarene, 10450 S. Co. Rd. 544 East, Selma, IN 47383.
