MUNCIE- Stephen F. Blair, 68, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Friday, April 7, 2017 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born in Muncie on July 18, 1948, the son of Fred Blair and G. Aliene (Hayes) Englehart. Steve attended Yorktown High School, Muncie Central High School, and graduated from Southside High School.

After High School he joined the United States Marines where he served during the Vietnam War. He was a proud combat veteran and was also a rifle marksman. Steve also attended Ball State University. He worked as a carpenter and a philosopher.

Steve enjoyed music, writing poetry, fishing, and martial arts. He was a member of the American Legion and other Veteran Organizations, and was an ordained minister.

Survivors include his mother, G. Aliene Englehart of Marion; siblings, Deborah Prickett of Upland, Lisa Duggan of Sweetser, Gregory Englehart of Sweetser, Susan Charles (Danny) of Sweetser, and Marsha Woodworth (Kelly) of Cromwell; step-sisters, Billie Sommers, Beth Grisell (Jan), and Barbara Webster (Mike); granddaughter, Olivia Shoemaker of Muncie; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and lifelong friends, Garry Foreman, Steve Case, Steve Massie, and Scott Brown.

He was preceded in death by his father, step-brother, Alan Hummer, grandparents, Emily and Ari Blair, and friend, Larry Thomas.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Chaplain Hank Hansen officiating. Following services, full military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corps and the Veterans of Delaware County. Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017 in Marion National Cemetery.

Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017.
