David Cox

President and Co-Owner

Dave has been with The Meeks Mortuary for over 20 years, and became President in 2015. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Ball State University in 1991 and also has a Mortuary Science Degree.

Dedicated to serving his community, Dave is involved with several local organizations and charities, including Rotary International.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife of 25 years and their three children, and landscaping.

Patrick E. O’Connor

Secretary - Director of Operations

A native of Union City, Patrick started his career in funeral service in 1996. He graduated from Ball State University in 1998 with a Bachelors Degree in Economics and Business Management and from Mid-America College of Funeral Service in 1999. He has served as Director of Funeral Service Operations for The Meeks Mortuary since 2010. In 2016 he was appointed as Secretary of the corporation.

Patrick is a member of Muncie Elks Lodge and Ball State University Alumni Association. He serves as Den Leader for his son’s cub scout den with Troop #74 of the Crossroads of America Council, BSA. He is also a member of the Cremation Association of North America and has an active role in his company’s membership with Selected Independent Funeral Homes.

Patrick and his wife Melissa are the proud parents of three children, Reganne, Colin and Gabriel. In his spare time he enjoys attending his children’s many sporting and academic events, playing guitar and traveling with his family.

Keith J. Warner


A native of Northern Illinois, Keith honorably served his country in the US Navy in Alaska and California. He began working in funeral service in 1990; graduating from Worsham College of Mortuary Science and later received his Bachelor’s Degree in Management & Leadership from Judson College in Illinois. Keith came to Indiana in 2007 and has been serving the Muncie community since 2013.

Keith and his wife of  over 30 years reside in Muncie and have 3 adult children and one daughter at home. He enjoys watching NASCAR, attending races and is dedicated to his family.

Tony Terry

Care Team Manager

Tony graduated from Yorktown High School in 1980 and then served honorably in The United States Air Force. He later graduated from Mid-America College of Funeral Service in 1990. He worked for The Meeks Mortuary from 1993 until 2005 as a funeral director and has now returned to serve as our Care Team Manager. He has also served for the last 29 years with the Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department. Tony enjoys being outdoors and spending time with fiance Debbie and his two daughters Elizabeth and Samantha.

Michael Johnson CFSP

Funeral Director

Mike is a native of Knightstown. He graduated from Mid-America College of Funeral Service. He joined the staff at The Meeks Mortuary in May of 2020, after serving as a manager for a large funeral corporation in Muncie for several years.

Mike is very active in the cattle industry, raising and showing registered Angus Cattle at local, state and national shows. Mike is the only Delaware County Funeral Director to hold the title of CFSP (Certified Funeral Service Practitioner) a honor granted by the Academy of Funeral Service.

Mike enjoys spending time with his family and farming. His son Zachary (wife-Amy) and the pride of his life, his four red-headed granddaughters Kaylynn, Addison, Paisley and Raelynn. He enjoys supporting and promoting youth in agriculture and the livestock industry.

Stacy Meeks

Funeral Director

Stacy is a native of Illinois, mother of two and a Second Career Funeral Director. She became a 2015 graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science after a dedicated career in customer service with AT&T. Stacy has worked at various funeral homes as an independent contractor and manages a small business of Mortuary services in IL. For over 20 years She has been active in her church serving on the hospitality & greeting ministry. In spare time she enjoys time with family, baking, biking, shopping.

Joshua Byrum

Funeral Director

Josh is a 2001 graduate of Union City Community High School and a 2008 graduate of Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He started with The Meeks Mortuary in October of 2016. Josh enjoys traveling, going to the lake, and spending time with his dog, Juliet. His hobbies include golf and bowling.

Donna Slaven

Family Service Counselor

Donna is a Muncie native and licensed insurance agent. She joined The Meeks Mortuary in 2020 and has been a family service counselor for six years. Donna lost her husband unexpectedly, so she knows the value of pre-planned funeral arrangements. She is a proud grandmother of nine, including triplet Girls. She is an avid golfer and has been a part of many Ladies Leagues. She also enjoys gardening, camping and fishing.

Joseph Miller

Funeral Service Associate

Joseph Miller is a native of Mississippi. He is a graduate of Stone High School, in Wiggins, MS. He, his wife and daughter moved to Muncie in 2019, and was recently assigned the position of Associate Pastor of Freedom Point Apostolic Church here in Muncie. He has been in the funeral service industry since 2013 specializing in removals, pre-need and various other funeral services. He has worked with a number of funeral homes and businesses over the years. Joseph enjoys fishing, golfing and time spent with family.  And looks forward to furthering his mortuary career.

Michelle Partin

Administrative Assistant

A graduate of Winchester Community High School and Ivy Tech State College, Michelle joined our staff in 2016 after spending over 20 years as a Legal Secretary/Paralegal.

Michelle serves as our Administrative Assistant overseeing a variety of daily operations in the office.   She currently serves in the Media Department at her church as a volunteer photographer.  In her spare time, Michelle enjoys photography, gardening, landscaping, crafting, and spoiling her grandchildren.

Amy Mueller

Administrative Assistant

Amy is a graduate of Wapahani High School and Ivy Tech. Before joining our staff, she spent nearly 25 years in banking. She also currently serves as a volunteer in the children’s ministry at her church. Amy and her husband Jim are the proud parents of two sons. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and also watching her boys participate in sports and other activities.

Mallory Kemper

Funeral Service Associate

Mallory was born and raised in Muncie and is a graduate of Delta High School. During her Senior year she completed an internship at The Meeks Mortuary and officially became an Assistant Funeral Associate in the Fall of 2019.

In her spare time, Mallory enjoys sewing, listening to music, spending time with her family and is a Special Olympic Athlete in Bowling, Cycling, Fitness Walking, Corn Toss and Track and Field. Mallory is a Charter member and founding Secretary,  of the D. C. Special “Opts” Optimist Club.

Charles Casada

Funeral Service Associate

Charles serves as a Funeral Service Associate at The Meeks Mortuary. A native of Muncie, Charles earned a Bachelor’s of Science in History from Ball State University.

After 32 years with Ball Memorial Hospital Police Department, Charles retired and now serves as a Lieutenant with the Muncie Fire Department and a Deputy Coroner for Delaware County.

In his spare time, he enjoys being with his wife of 33 years, Kim.

Tony Kirkham

Funeral Service Associate

Born and raised in Delaware County, Tony graduated from Purdue with a degree in Animal Sciences, and then began a 42-year career with the Farm Credit System. That career resulted in his living in eight different states and Puerto Rico – where he met his wife Elba. Elba and Tony live on a 60-acre farm between Yorktown and Daleville, which means that his hobby is the 60-acre farm. He is on the board of the Delaware County Farm Bureau and the Corinth United Methodist Church. Tony worked for Meeks during the summer of 1968 and returned as a Funeral Service Associate in 2015.

Gordon Cox

President Emeritus

Gordon has spent over 50 years with The Meeks Mortuary and currently serves as President Emeritus. With over 52 years of experience in funeral service, Gordon has dedicated his life to helping people through life’s hardest moments, and views it as his honor to help a family memorialize their loved one.

A Muncie native, Gordon is a member of Rotary International, Junto, and has served on many boards, such as Muncie-Delaware County Community Foundation and Ball Memorial Hospital/Clarian.

John Emge

Retired Funeral Director

John has served as a Funeral Director at The Meeks Mortuary for over 26 years. Born and raised in Evansville, IN, he moved to Muncie in 1989. He attended Indiana College of Mortuary Science and graduated from Vincennes University’s Funeral Service Program in 1979.

John is dedicated to serving families with compassion and dignity during their time of need.

Mike Steed

Retired Funeral Director

Mike has served as a Funeral Director at The Meeks Mortuary for over 32 years. He is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. A Northern Indiana native, he is very involved in his community. Mike has been a member of Crestview Golf Course, Muncie Elks Lodge #245, Muncie Bowling Association, and the Eagles Lodge F.O.E. #231 for many years.

In his spare time, Mike enjoys bowling and golfing.

Dick Hall

Retired Funeral Service Associate

Dick has served as a Funeral Service Associate at The Meeks Mortuary for over 15 years. A native of Muncie, Dick graduated from Royerton High School. After 32 years with General Motors, he retired and now focuses on serving his community. He has been involved with High School athletics for over 45 years as an official and an observer. Dick is passionate about helping families through life’s most difficult moments.

Joseph Sutherland

Retired Funeral Service Associate

Joe has served as a Funeral Service Associate at The Meeks Mortuary for almost 10 years. After over 40 years with Sutherland Travel Service, he retired to spend more time with his wife, Jolena, and better serve his community.
