Muncie – Bob Smith, 88, went to be with Lord Sunday afternoon, December 30, 2018, at his residence.
He was born in Greencastle on July 25, 1930, the son of Henry and Effie (Murphy) Smith, attended Greencastle High School, Crossroads Bible College, and became ordained and licensed through the American Evangelic Association.
Mr. Smith was employed for thirty-two years at T.E. Booher and Son, was the Pastor at Antioch Church of the Brethren for thirty-one years, and the caretaker of Jones Cemetery since 1993.
He was a member of Cammack United Methodist Church and the Emmaus Community. Bob enjoyed fishing, preaching, woodworking, golfing, gardening, and being a servant leader.
Surviving are his wife of forty-five years, Leslie; four children, Timothy L. Smith (wife, Sue), Yorktown, Gary W. Smith, Yorktown, Stephen D. Smith (wife, Jackie), Muncie, and Robin R. (Smith), Florida; two step-daughters who he loved as his own, Terrie Greenwalt, Muncie, and Donna Burton (husband, John), Muncie; a brother, Don Smith, Mission, TX; a sister, JoAnn Clifford, Greencastle; twenty grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; ten brothers and sisters; a step-son, Darrell King, Jr.; and a step-grandson, Zach Greenwalt.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Rd. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday or one hour prior to services on Saturday.
