SELMA – Carrie “Opal” Evans, 63, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday afternoon, April 26, 2021 with her 5 children and husband by her bedside when the Lord took her home.

She was born on June 6, 1957 in Muncie, the daughter of Linard “Hollis” and Zelptha (Davis) Slaven and attended Southside High School. On May 1, 1976 in Muncie, she married Randall Scott “Randy” Evans, Sr.

Opal was a member of 11th Street Christian Church, she enjoyed reading her Bible daily and attending Sunday School. She was known for being a prayer warrior who loved to call people and pray with them over the phone. Opal had a tremendous love for people and animals, was an active volunteer, enjoyed sewing, quilting, especially for her children and grandchildren. Opal loved to garden and plant flowers and enjoyed spending time in the woods with her husband cutting wood. Opal also loved to sing, had a beautiful smile, was selfless, loved everyone she knew, especially her brothers and sisters and never knew a stranger. She was a mom and grandma to many and never left her husband’s side for 44 years.

Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Randall Scott “Randy” Evans of Selma, five children, Randall Scott Evans, Jr. (wife, Jackie) of Muncie, Robin Evans of Muncie, Linda McClish (Phil) of Lynn, Annette Alfont (husband, Curt) of Muncie and Mistie Moles (husband, Nickodemus) of Muncie; a niece she adopted and raised, Sunshine Marie Gray (husband, Larry) of Tennessee; nine grandchildren, Steven, Jose, Scottie, Joseph, Makaylla, Breanna, Samantha, Chelsey and Kimberly; two great-grandchildren, Thatcher and Aubriella; one brother, Ronald Slaven (Holly) of Muncie; one sister, Brenda Black of Kentucky; special friends, Meggy Stephens (Bill) of Muncie and Joyce Johnson of Muncie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Hollis Slaven, Randy Slaven and Donald B. Slaven; and two sisters, Cynthia Louise Swafford and Evelyn Betty Jane Slaven.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Pastor Dennis Trimble officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery.

Family and friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2021 and one hour prior to services on Friday.

Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Muncie Animal Shelter, 901 W. Riggin Road, Muncie, IN  47303.
