SUFFOLK, VA – Helen L. Bilbrey, 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep in Suffolk, VA on Sunday, January 3, 2021.
She was born January 13, 1925, in Muncie, the daughter of Bennie and Margarite Miller. Helen graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1943.
She was a member of Shawnee Heights Baptist Church for many years. Helen was employed at Mutual Home Savings and Loan for more than 30 years. She loved working at the bank where she enjoyed talking with all of her customers and fellow employees.
Surviving are one son, Michael Bilbrey and his wife Claudia; five grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; four nieces and one nephew.
Mrs. Bilbrey was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Porter Franklin; and one sister, Martha “Babe” Hershey.
Funeral Services were held privately at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with private burial at Elm Ridge Cemetery.

I worked with Helen at Mutual and loved her. She was a fun, vibrant lady. Your Dad's station was just down the street from my Dads business, Keppler Steel, so they knew each other. Both of my folks are both gone, sad for us..
