Yorktown – JoAnne Thomas, 69, went to be with the Lord Monday morning, September 25, 2017, at her residence following a courageous twelve year battle with cancer.

She was born in Muncie on August 15, 1948 the daughter of Shirl and Eva Upchurch and graduated from Muncie Central High School.

JoAnne was employed at Super Value in Ft. Wayne for many years.

She was a member and active in the United Methodist Church. JoAnne enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls, chickens, and dogs.

Surviving are her husband of forty-six years, Jerry; her son, Gary Thomas (wife, Kim), Bourbonnais, IL; two grandchildren, Derek and Macy Thomas; two great-grandchildren, Graysen and Aubrey Thomas; a sister, Sue Smith (husband, Tim), Yorktown; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and five brothers and sisters.

Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Rd., Muncie from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday or one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September28, 2017, at Cammack United Methodist Church with Rev. John Young and Pastor Gary Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
