MUNCIE- John Douglas McKillip, Jr. 75, passed away early Saturday morning, February 13, 2021 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born August 17, 1945 in Muncie, and was the son of the late John Douglas & Ruth (Watson) McKillip.
John was a loving husband, father, provider and hard worker. He retired from Delco Battery in Muncie after 30 years of dedicated service, he then went to work and retired again after 17 years of service from Allison Transmission in Indianapolis. John was a proud graduate of Muncie Central High School in 1963 and from Ball State University with a degree in Industrial Management. He was an active member of Unitarian Universalist Church of Muncie. John took pride in being a secular humanist. He was very active and caring in giving back and supporting his community. John served the community through Habitat for Humanity, Muncie Attic Window, and the Soup Kitchen of Muncie, and took great pride in doing so. He loved getting together with former classmates and retirees. John loved vintage cars and especially 1953 Buick Skylarks. He loved attending Mecum Auto Auctions and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
John is survived by his son Stephen Michael McKillip; two brothers Richard and Phillip McKillip and a sister Janice James.
John is preceded in death by his parents John Douglas McKillip and Ruth (Watson) McKillip; loving wife Judy Ann (Wood) McKillip; four brothers Alvin (Bud), Fred, Michael B. and Steven D. McKillip; five sisters Virginia Brinson, Margaret (Peggy) Bales, Fern Atkinson, Faye Bryan, and Judy Dunsmore.

John was such a giving and generous person. We worked together at the UU church on a number of events and he invariably shared great ideas and his helping hand. He will be greatly missed. Blessings to his family.
