Muncie – Joseph A. Evans, 71, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021.

He was born in Muncie on February 27, 1950, the son of Watson and Mary (Springman) Evans and graduated from Muncie Southside Highschool in 1968.

Joe later graduated from Ball State University in 1972 with a degree in History and Political Science.

He was a journeyman carpenter and was the instructor of the apprenticeship program for Carpenters Local Brotherhood #1016. He later served as Business Agent and retired in 2013. In 2014 Joe joined the Muncie Sanitary District, serving as a board member. He retired in August of 2021.

He was a lifetime and very active member of the Delaware County Democratic Party. Joe was an avid woodworker and always had a carpentry project at his farm. He also loved cars, especially his Ford Mustang.

Survivors include his wife of forty-seven years, Susan J. Evans; his children, Dr. Tyler Evans (Dr. Mychal Beebe) and Madeleine Evans; a brother, Mike Evans (Nancy); along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, David Evans; a sister, Ann Mason; and his parents.

To celebrate his life, family and friends may call from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the mortuary.
