MUNCIE – Martha Jean McIntosh, 74, passed away on Sunday evening, May 30, 2021 at Morrison Woods.

She was born on March 2, 1947 in Muncie, the daughter of William H. and Coletta F. (Kiener) McIntosh and graduated from Muncie Southside High School in 1965.

Martha worked for the Muncie Newspapers as a composer for 35 years until her retirement in 2001. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church; Business and Professional Women and Women of the Moose.

“The most successful people see adversity not as a stumbling block, but as a stepping stone to greatness.”

Martha Jean was the type of person that exemplifies this quote. Her life was not full of stumbling blocks, but more so a life filled with many stepping stones that she used every day. She felt more concerned with smiling, laughing, enjoying her friends and the many opportunities she had to show her love for life and her love for God. Martha chose to face her challenges rather than consume herself in bitterness and self-pity. The path that she chose to have her life take involved her choice to smile and laugh with her many friends during lunches and phone conversations. She also found great joy in her family, proudly showing off photos of her nieces and nephews and talking about how proud she was of them and that they were her family! Finally, she loved God and God is very proud of what he made in Martha Jean Mc Intosh!

Surviving are two sisters Suzanne M. Pease and Maryellen Cunningham, both of Muncie; nieces and nephews, William Alan Pease (wife, Emily), Nicholas McIntosh Pease (wife, Caroline), Mallory Colette Papp (husband, Matthew), Emily Cunningham and Catie Cunningham; great-nieces and great-nephews, Maris, Jackson, Elijah, Micah, Morgan, Averhiana, Emily and Christabella; special cousins, Joanne Steinfurth and Margaret Friedman; long-time friends, Sheilah, Bonnie, Debbie and Roberta; and last but not least, her beloved cat, Bam-Bam.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 7, 2021 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 820 E. Charles Street, Muncie, with Fr. David Hellmann presiding.
