DALEVILLE – Michael E. Reed, 69, passed away on Sunday afternoon, March 21 2021.
He was born on July 28, 1951 in Muncie, the son of Ralph E. “Hank” and Thelma M. (Richman) Reed and graduated from Daleville High School in 1969. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in education in 1973 and his Master’s Degree in 1977 from Ball State University. In June, 1974, he married Beth E. Bridgens.
Michael began his teaching career at Garfield Elementary from 1973-1985 and also taught at West View Elementary from 1985 until his retirement in 2014. He was also a lifelong dairy farmer, patriarch of the family homestead in Daleville and enjoyed Milking Shorthorns. He was a member of ISTA, MTA and NEA.
His passions were gardening, reading and his family.
Surviving are his wife of over 46 years, Beth E. Reed; four children, Derek Reed (wife, Carrie), Jason Reed (wife, Ashley), Brad Reed (wife, Mendy) and Sara O’Donnell; ten grandchildren, Abby, Livi, Drew, Madelyn, Lauren, Jacob, Mallarie, Brandon, Owen and Aidan; and two brothers, James Reed (wife, Kris) and Tom Reed (wife, Lynn).
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Jayne Ann Reed.
There will be no services and cremation will take place after calling hours.
Family and friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road, Muncie, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 29, 2021.
