Michael E. Reed

My condolences to the Reed family. Mr. Reed was my second grade teacher at Garfield Elementary. I remember visiting the farm as a school field trip. It was possibly the first time as a child I gained appreciation of the garden, the animals, and enjoying nature.

Mike and I have been lifelong friends since we met at college in 1972. His passing is sad, but our loyal friendship and stories galore will always bring a smile to my face when I think of him. TBL

I send my sincere sympathies to the family members of Mike. I was a colleague of his at West View Elementary School for many years. Mike was an excellent teacher and had a positive influence on the many students who were in his classroom.

All three of my kids had Mr Reed at Westview. He was a great Teacher and made a Hugh impression on their beginning of their education. My Dad also worked with Mikes Dad Hank and both my Parents went on several trips to French Lick with his Parents. Mike was a great Teacher and person and loved his family so much. We always heard his stories about his kids. What my kids and even myself learned from him will be forever with us. I had mr reed for 2nd grade at west view elementary from 1987-88. He was a difficult teacher for me but really pushed me, I learned a lot, and I have fond memories. Especially when he brought us out to the farm and we.got to milk the cows! He also had us do a "taste test" which ended up being cow tongue cow brain and.cow heart! Holy cow! I still tell that story to this day as one of my most memorable school experiences! I wish his family well and I'm sorry for your loss!

Sending the family my prayers & condolences. Mr. Reed was my 2nd grade teacher in 1977-78 at Garfield. Two of my fond memories were: He would cook some unique dishes for us at school about once a month. One thing I remember him making the class was homemade butter, which is something I never experienced. The last memory was at the end of the school year, we got to spend a day at his farm. I got to milk a cow for the first time, and would play with his little chicks. Mr. Reed was a good man, and will truly be missed! RIP!!

My condolences

I saw this posted in a group for people who attended Westview Elementary. Mr. Reed was my 2nd grade teacher in 1987 and to this day I can still remember him and so many things about his class so vividly. He was an outstanding teacher who truly made an impression on me as a child. Truly what a teacher should be. I am so very sorry for your loss.

I don’t really know where to even begin, my son's both had Mike at Westview. They both loved him dearly! My youngest son Zac had him twice Zac was a challenging boy Mike was the BEST thing that ever happened to that kid!! Knew all the right ways to handle him I could talk forever but the most important thing I want to share is Zac is now 35 years old and doing very well, to this day always references “Mr. Reed” he truly left a lifetime impression on him for that I’ll be eternally grateful! Please know the amount of respect myself and my family has for him! Prayers for pease and comfort during these hard times wishing you all well.

I'm so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. He was a great classmate. I last saw him at Anderson WalMart picking up picture over 22 years ago. Prayers for your family.
