Ralph Leon Wray, 81, passed away on September 27, 2021 at Morrison Woods Health Campus.

Ralph was born in Clinton County, Kentucky on January 9, 1940, son of John and Della (Hunt) Wray.

The family moved to Muncie, Indiana when Ralph was three.  Ralph was a graduate of Ball State University (BA in History) and Butler University (MBA). He played baseball, basketball and ran track in school. Ralph was a member of the Delaware County Athletic Hall of Fame.  He was a member of the 1955 Delaware County Baseball Championship team and the 1957-1958 season championship basketball team at Harrison Township High School.  Ralph worked at Buehler Corporation in Indianapolis as he began his business career.  He later served as Vice- President of Labor Relations at both St. Paul Pioneer Press and the Buffalo News (New York), where he negotiated worker contracts.  Ralph also served on several Board of Directors and received many professional awards.  After retirement he relocated to Byrdstown, Tennessee for several years. While there he served as a WANY radio announcer in live broadcasts for girls and boys high school basketball games in Pickett County.  He also authored two books, “Johnny Hoosier” and “The Disintegration of America”, and served as a business consultant in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and the Miami, Florida area.

Ralph is survived by daughter, Kelly Wray (Robert Spearman), son, Todd Wray; grandchildren, Brayden Spearman and Ayana Spearman, and his brothers, John Wray (Phyllis) and Jim Wray (Nancy), and several nieces and nephews.

Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Paula Smith Wray, his daughter, Lisa Wray, his parents, John and Della Wray, and his brother, Donald Wray.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.
