PARKER CITY- Ronnie Murphy, 72, passed away Monday morning, January 14, 2019 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was a wonderful, loving husband and devoted father and grandfather.
He was born September 24, 1946, in Muncie, the son of Prince and Madalyn (Hall) Murphy. Ronnie graduated from Selma High School in 1965.

Ronnie loved fishing for catfish at Wheeler Lake and hunted for many years with his brothers and his father. Spending time with his family was very important. People who knew him best knew him for his kindness and love.
Ronnie enjoyed watching his grandson Nate play basketball for the Burris Owls. He had a wonderful sense of humor and held nothing back. He was a huge fan of country music.
Ronnie never complained about his health, and inspired everyone that knew him to fight every day and never give up. He always said the glass was half full.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 41 years, Viretta (Purvis) Murphy; a son, Allen Burkhardt (wife, Lorie), a daughter, Tara Drown; five grandchildren, Becky Richey (husband, Bryan), Kelsie Drown, Nate Drown, Lindsey Teal, and Michael Teal; five great grandchildren; six brothers and sisters, Sharon McKechnie (husband, Michael), Tom Murphy (wife, Sue), Kathie Nuckols (husband, Randy), Pam White, Randy Murphy (wife, Nanette), and Terry Murphy (wife, Debbie); and several nieces and nephews; and his precious little dog, Sophie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Donna Richey, and a brother-in-law, Earl Richey.
The Murphy family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the care Ronnie received from U.S. Renal Care on Granville, Dr. Brian Lumpkin and the wonderful staff at Abundant Family Health, and Dr. John Eliades and the great staff at I. U. Health Ball Memorial Wound Center.
