MUNCIE – Shirley K. Goad, 82, passed away on Sunday evening, May 17, 2020 at Signature Health Care with loving staff and family by her side.
She was born on March 16, 1938 in Muncie, the daughter of Rollin and Madonna (Hobbick) Gill. She married Richard O. Goad on April 29, 1960 and they were married for 48 years before he passed.
Shirley worked for Perfection Bread and sold Avon for many years. She attended Glad Tidings Church.
She enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. She never knew a stranger and enjoyed talking to everyone. In her free time, she enjoyed working cross-word puzzles, selling Avon, traveling with friends and eating LOTS of ice cream.
Surviving are one daughter, Gloria Burton (husband, Terry); three sons, Russell Goad (wife, Dina), Mike Goad (wife, Joyce) and Richard Wilkinson (wife, Gail); eight grandchildren, Michael, Jack, Melissa (Jarad), Corey (Jamie), Jennifer (Danny), Sarah (Heath), Troy and Hope; eight great-grandchildren, Chris (Anastasia), Heylee (Cody), Lilly, Grayson, Wyatt, Madi, Lawsyn and Nova; two great-great grandchildren, Emory and Minnie; one brother, John Gill (wife, Sandra); two sisters-in-law, Linda Gill and Peggy Hart (husband, Danny); and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 48 years, Richard O. Goad on February 17, 2009; one granddaughter, Stephanie Burton; one sister, Phyllis Crowe; and two brothers, Jerry Gill and Jim Gill.
Services will be private and burial will be held in Beech Grove Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to Glad Tidings Church, 3001 S. Burlington Drive, Muncie, IN 47302.
The family would like to personally thank the family members and friends that took care of her. Because of you, we were able to keep her home a lot longer. We also want to thank the wonderful staff at Signature Health Care. She was cared for and treated like your own. She loved you all dearly and we greatly appreciate everything.
