MUNCIE- William E. (Bill) Taylor, 94, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, December 1, 2018. He was born in Allentown, PA on April 23, 1924 to Earl Elbert and Sadie Veronica (McGee) Taylor.
Bill attended Burris, Ball State, and Indiana Business College. He served in the Army during World War II and was decorated with a purple heart. He married Martha Jean Traub on June 14, 1947. Bill retired from Indiana Gas Company in 1986. He was a member of VFW, the Eagles, was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and served as Chaplin of the AMVETS. He enjoyed sports, was an avid golfer, and organized horseshoe tournaments.
He is survived by his three daughters, Kathy Taylor, Becky Merrell (Jim), Judy Marlow (Rick); grandson, Ryan Merrell; granddaughter, Megan Bertini (Brandon) of Key West, FL; great-grandchildren, Luke Wilson and Victoria White; brothers-in-law, Dave Traub and Jim Traub (Barbara Jane) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Martha Jean, grandson, Nathan Marlow, and great-granddaughter, Isabel White.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Father David Hellmann presiding. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church.
The family would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to caregiver, Saundra Billings, his neighbors, Alpha Center, Help at Home, Lifestream Services, MITS Plus, and Signature Health Care.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to Deacon’s Food Pantry, C/O St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 820 E. Charles St., Muncie, IN 47305.
