MUNCIE- Winifred Jane “Janie” Wiggerly, 78, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018. Born September 5, 1940 to Mae Gannon and Spurgeon Rogers Bingham in Spur, Texas, Winifred Jane Wiggerly’s father was so taken by her beauty that he named her after the prettiest girl he’d ever seen, the homecoming queen at his high school. Janie as she came to be known, spent her formative years in Spur, the first granddaughter on her fathers side “Janie Bug” was the apple of her grandparents eye and had a lovely childhood. Her family moved to Amarillo, Texas in the early 1950’s, it was in Amarillo that Janie, a young bride, became the mother of her first three children, John Roger, Suzie and Tammy Jo.
Janie found her life’s love in Mr. Charles F. Wiggerly whom she married on November 2, 1973 in Muncie, Indiana. Active in the Masonic Organization, Janie, an Eastern Star member, raised her children to appreciate the value of hard work, discipline and community. It was during this time in Indiana that Janie and Charlie had their only child together, Robert Charles. The Wiggerly family moved to Oklahoma in the early eighties, where Charlie worked for GM and Janie raised their children. At her life’s end Janie was exactly where she wanted to be, with Charlie by her side living in Indiana. Janie passed from this earth on what would have been her infant son’s 62nd birthday, September 13, 2018, what a reunion that must have been.
Winifred is preceded in death by her infant son, John Roger Dover and her beloved parents, Mae and Spurgeon Bingham. She is survived by her husband, Charles; her daughters Suzie King of Amarillo, Texas and Tammy Bugg of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and her Son Robert Charles Wiggerly of Norman, Oklahoma; sister, Nancy Price of Plano, Texas; 7 grandchildren (Justin, Blythe, Krishna, Kameron, Gabriel, Gracie and Zoe) and 3 great-grandchildren (Kerrigan, Dean and Shayden).
